Two volumes bound in the Crisscross binding style with exposed sewing over link-stitched bookblocks. Covers are made with marbled papers by Robert Wu of Toronto. Hand titled in gold on the spine pieces. Both bound in 2010.
This book was bound for the Scripta Manent IV international competition (2010), held by the Estonian Association of Designer Bookbinders. It features folksongs in both Estonian and English. I chose to bind the book into two separate volumes, arranged by language. I thought the crisscross structure would complement the folksongs contained within, particularly with the gorgeous oak and cherry trees on the covers.
